Surface Preparation for Bare Wood

If you are applying the wrap to bare wood (such as MDF or plywood), you must seal the surface first. Because raw wood is a highly porous material, the vinyl will not adhere properly unless the wood is completely sealed with a primer, varnish, or paint.

Step-by-Step Installation
A Quick Tip: Before tackling your main project, we highly recommend doing a small practice run using an offcut of the vinyl to get a feel for the material!

Align

Cut the vinyl to size and line it up perfectly on the surface of your project.

Anchor the Top

Peel back 10–15cm of the backing paper from the top of the film. Re-align the sheet and stick this exposed top strip firmly to your item.

Smooth & Peel

Reach underneath to slowly pull the backing paper down, while simultaneously using a squeegee on the top surface to press the vinyl down smoothly.

Remove Bubbles

If you encounter any air bubbles, simply use your squeegee to push them outward to the closest edge.

Managing Curves, Edges & Bends
Using Heat: If your project has curves or bends, gently apply heat with a heat gun to soften the vinyl. This allows you to stretch the film seamlessly around the curve. Whenever possible, wrap the vinyl around to the back of the object with a slight overlap to keep it secure.

Adhesive Promoters

Because architectural vinyl is thicker than standard vinyl, we recommend applying an adhesive promoter (such as 3M 94 Primer) on all edges, tight bends, and recesses. This secures the vinyl and drastically increases its lifespan. You can purchase this primer online or from a local 3M distributor.

Aftercare & Maintenance
If you are wrapping worktops or tables, please treat the surface with care to prolong its lifespan. Do not place hot pans directly onto the vinyl, and always use coasters and placemats for hot cups and plates.
